In the home of Kaia-Liisa Reinuti under the pines of Laulasmaa live in harmony a modern Northern log-house, exotic furniture and artworks and an age-old inherited rocking chair.
Upon entering the hill-top house, one witnesses a panorama of the pines of Laulasmaa from the giant window. When watching TV on the Eastern-inspired sofa, one's attention keeps fading all the time, since the picture surrounding the screen is much more beautiful and interesting.
„I have never seen rabbits this big!“ comments the housewife on the "neighbours" that often hop around behind the window. On a winter weekend have some of the villagers the habit of waking Kaia-Liisa and her husband with a demanding knock on the window - paruses and bullfinches demand their breakfast.
The Finnlamell log-house, built under the pines in a few months during the last summer, was erected in the place of Kaia-Liisa's family's old summer home, where also in the past long summers were spent. Since less and less time each year was spent in the penthouse apartment in the Kalamaja region in Tallinn and the pines were exchanged for city scenery only in October, the final decision was made to sell the home in the capital and to move to Laulasmaa for good.
Things that create harmony
Passion and interest for everything Eastern and spiritual shines through in this home, Kaia-Liisa, a teacher of Reiki and the founder of the School for Inner Wisdom UNIVERSUS, keeps saying that actually her home consists of things that have appealed to her and her husband and which create inner harmony, and many of the seemingly Eastern painting on the walls turn out to be painted by herself and her husband and the textiles bought in Tallinn.
Thus neither the sofa, commode nor the carpet are memorabilia from Asian travels, instead the first two found in Evelekt and the third from Casa Studio.
The kitchen was ordered from Aet Pielit, who fitted a modest small kitchen in the open space, where on scarce square meters an ultimately practical kitchen was fitted. The bathroom furniture is also bought from Pieli, other furnishings and solutions on the other hand are by the homefolk.
The stone flooring was also picked on advice from Aet Pieli - it has a warm feeling under the feet thanks to panel heating and if during summer time the bounds between living room and the pine forest start disappearing, it is much more practical than wooden floorings that tends to wear out quickly because of the intruding sand and needles.
The family hasn't knowingly arranged their home following the principles of Feng Shui, still many of the aspects have turned out naturally according to them. „It is important that things and their location is in harmony with one's inner feelings and their location to be chosen according to one's gut feeling not book wisdoms or trend” says Kaia-Liisa.
Drums in the bedroom
The ground floor accommodates also the bedroom in exotic colours, that is separated from the wardrobe by a colourful curtain - Kaia-Liisa found it from Muster salon. African drums that were picked from Universaal Universum catch one's gaze in the corner of the room.
The "Drum" theme continues on the first floor - here the man of the household keeps a drum-kit that could suit the needs of a rock band. The exchange of the downtown apartment and a three-quarters of an hour journey to
The pièce de résistance of the first floor is the lamp crafted by Kaia-Liisa's father.
Hidden jewels can be found all over the house: beautiful and meaningful stones and crystals are Kaia-Liisa's passion, which she has mixed with her other great passion - interior design.
